Matilde Hidalgo Procel No. 2, the Saint Peter's, sucre parish, county and province of Loja. academic period 2014 - 2015, had as general objective to determine how they influence the implementation of methodological strategies to cultivate and develop the reading habit of fourth grade students basic general education, this research is descriptive and corresponds to the design pre- experimental and transversal, the comprehensive, analytical, synthetic methods, participatory diagnosis, model or proactive, workshop, and the method of comprehensive evaluation were used, plus techniques of direct observation and survey application 1 teacher was used and eighteen students They intervened nineteen human talents, thereof the following information was obtained; most students report that their teachers do not use needed to cultivate and develop the reading habit methodological strategies, so it is concluded that it is necessary to know and apply methodological motivating to cultivate and develop the reading habit appropriate strategies and, as an essential part in the teaching-learning process and it is recommended that the teacher should implement active, innovative and effective measures to cultivate and develop the habit of reading strategies, thus achieving an excellent level of reading, comprehensive training and academic students
