Resumo:The following research work is called “PHLEBITIS MANAGEMENT BY PERIPHERAL VENOUS CARACTER IN PATIENTS TREATED IN THE CHEMOTHERAPY AREA OF SOLCA LOJA”, is a descriptive study whose main objective is to determine a relationship between the management of peripheral venous character and the frequency of phlebitis in patients that are treated at the Chemotherapy Department of Solca Loja “Hospital”. The universe was constituted by 17th nurses and 17th patients that were served by professionals. Such as techniques and instruments for data collection an observation guide was used by professionals nurses while handling the peripheral venous catheter; and the phlebitis scale is applies to patients with catheter. The results in terms of procedure state that all nurses prepare the right material and equipment needed in order to perform the right procedure 47.06%, don’t wash their hands before the preparation perfusion, procedure execution and the handling of connections, 88,24% don’t use gloves like a biosafety bandage in order to complete the procedure; 100% of professionals, feel the vein in order to evaluate its elasticity; the right size of catheter and this disinfects the skin with an antiseptic solution where the venous catheter is placed. 82, 35% of catheter insertion is performed in a single attempt, 100% of the observed professionals make a good venous catheter fixation and records at the site of insertion date, time and initials of the nurse who performed the procedure. Due to the maintenance, it became clearer for the nurses to perform the change of peripheral venous catheter within a maximum of 72 hours period of time; the catheter in the presence of phlebitis make a big change and have the appropriate dilution of the drugs that were administrated. Also it is found that 41,17% out of 17th patients with peripheral venous catheters, which are served by professionals presented in phlebitis, of which 29,41 grade 1 and 11,76% grade 2, is determined so that the management of peripheral venous catheter related to the frequency of phlebitis.
