description The research project is located in the Urdaneta parish, canton Saraguro that belongs to the province of Loja; This project intended to carry out the water supply analysis of the Ramas micro-basin, which supplies the Paquishapa irrigation system, and the existing demand in the irrigation area and thereby be able to know if the demand is significant with respect to the supply, and be able to generate a proposal for the optimization of water resources so that they are not misused and agriculture is developing. To determine the water availability of the microbasin Ramas, it began with morphometric analysis, which gives a broad view of the conditions of the microbasin Branches in shape, relief and density of drainage, it should be noted that this project was developed in large part with the application of GIS software applied to the water study. For the generation of precipitation and flows, the meteorological stations of: Saraguro, San Lucas, Oña and Yantzaza were selected; the respective analysis was performed to apply empirical methods to estimate precipitation and average monthly flows, in addition the direct gauging method was applied with the windmill in the Ramas stream, to corroborate the empirically estimated flows, the surveys were performed twice a month during the During this period, the empirical methods applied to determine the average monthly flows were: curve number, ecological polynomial, and rational method, by means of the flow-time graph, in which each of the applied methods influences. selected the ecological polynomial method since it was the one with the best tendency with the direct method. So it can be considered that the Paquishapa irrigation system is oversized for the demand that requires the place of study.El proyecto de investigación se encuentra ubicado en la parroquia Urdaneta, cantón Saraguro perteneciente a la provincia de Loja; se pretende realizar el análisis de oferta hídrica de la microcuenca Ramas, misma que abastece al sistema de riego Paquishapa, y la demanda existente en la zona de riego y mediante ello poder conocer si la demanda es significativa con respecto a la oferta, y poder generar una propuesta para la optimización del recurso hídrico de manera que este no sea mal utilizado y la agricultura vaya en desarrollo. Para determinar la disponibilidad hídrica de la microcuenca Ramas se inició con el análisis morfométrico, el mismo que da una visión amplia de las condiciones de la microcuenca Ramas en forma, relieve y densidad de drenaje, cabe resaltar que el presente proyecto se lo desarrolló en gran parte con la aplicación del software SIG aplicado al estudio hídrico. Para la generación de precipitación y caudales se seleccionaron las estaciones meteorológicas de: Saraguro, San Lucas, Oña y Yantzaza; se realizó el respectivo análisis para aplicar métodos empíricos para estimar la precipitación y caudales medios mensuales, además se aplicó el método directo de aforo con molinete en la quebrada Ramas, para corroborar los caudales estimados empíricamente, los aforos se realizaron dos veces por mes durante el periodo que duro el presente proyecto, los métodos empíricos aplicados para determinar los caudales medios mensuales fueron: número de curva, polinomio ecológico, y método racional, mediante la realización del grafico caudal-tiempo, en los que influyen cada uno de los métodos aplicados se seleccionó el método del polinomio ecológico ya que fue el que mejor tendencia tenía con el método directo. La demanda se la obtuvo mediante el catastro predial de la zona de riego, se determinó el área y cultivos que se desarrollan en esta zona, se obtuvo el índice Kc del cultivo para cada periodo de desarrollo haciendo uso del libro de la FAO 56, en conjunto con la evapotranspiración de referencia se obtuvo la evapotranspiración de cada cultivo, mediante ello y la precipitación efectiva de la zona de riego se obtuvieron las demandas hídricas del sector. El análisis entre la demanda versus la oferta, señala que la demanda tiene un índice de escasez de 1%, es decir que la demanda es muy baja con respecto a la oferta. Y se realizó una propuesta general de ampliar la zona de riego en un 500%, es decir de 79 hectáreas actuales a 452 hectáreas, se volvió a determinar cada parámetro que permite conocer la demanda de esta nueva área de riego como son el coeficiente de cultivo, evapotranspiración de cada cultivo y la precipitación efectiva, para conocer la demanda que tienen estos. Se volvió a analizar la nueva demanda versus la oferta, resultando un índice de escasez del 10%, se a pesar de que se incrementó sigue en la categoría de una demanda muy baja respecto a la oferta.
