Normas de bioseguridad utilizadas por el personal de salud que labora en la unidad de cuidados intensivos en el Hospital Isidro Ayora en el periodo enero 2011 - julio 2011

This project aims to determine the Biosafety guidelines used by health personnel working in intensive care unit at the Isidro Ayora Hospital in the period January to July 2011. To verify the knowledge and practices that have staff working in the service under study. This unit is considered representative in the health unit where you have to set the highest standards because of poor health with patients admitted to this area. The two types of techniques used to study this research question involved the observation of health personnel and the technical application of the survey. Factors that helped determine amounts issues handwashing, personal protection and waste management, aimed at diagnosing the knowledge and practices of the study population. After analysis and interpretation of data was determined that the study population has a high knowledge in biosafety guidelines. And there is a high frequency on the application of biosecurity measures. Based on the information obtained through the literature review applied in this research work focused on evaluating the appropriate process for the rules. The thesis is a contribution to assess the proper implementation of biosecurity techniques to be carried in a health unit. It was concluded that staff working in ICU service Isidro Ayora Hospital, has a high knowledge in biosafety standards such as handwashing, use of protective elements, material waste and sharps. And there is a high frequency with respect to the use of standards of biosafety. Keywords: Knowledge, Application, Biosecurity.
