Ամփոփում:Diabetes is a major cause of illness and premature death, being the third major risk factor, relative to mortality, attributable globally. Therefore, the importance of performing the present study whose specific objectives are: to determine the 10-year risk to develop Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, to know the main risk factors for Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, to establish the gender with the highest risk of developing Diabetes Mellitus , to determine the age at greatest risk and to construct a proposal for the population at risk of developing Type 2 diabetes mellitus. The present study is a quantitative, descriptive and cross-sectional study, and the population aged 20-64 years (3,370) was taken. Cantonal headland of Canton Paltas, obtaining a sample of 319 people using the finite sampling formula, selected by simple randomization, to which the Findrisk Test was applied, to identify the risk of the study population. Which reported that 42.63% (n = 136) presented a low risk, 11.6% (n = 37); Among the main risk factors are: overweight (BMI ≥ 25), non-consumption of fruits and vegetables, and family history, female gender is at higher risk, the age group with the highest risk is 55-64 years. We can conclude that 1% of this population is at risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus at 10 years. Key words: Diabetes mellitus, Findrisk test, Body mass index, Obesity
