The present research project allowed "Nutritional status and eating habits in students from Pío Jaramillo Alvarado de Loja high school " during the academic period 2017-2018, objectives to determine the nutritional status and eating habits of high school students from “Pío Jaramillo Alvarado High School”. The study style which was used was the a descriptive, the transversal design. The instruments which have being taken into a consideration were; a survey proposed onto closed questions, and a weight and height control technique or anthropometric measurements. The sample which has been taken was 184 students. Amongst the results obtained, it was strong-minded that more than 60% of student from the previous mentioned high school have a normal body mass index, in terms of eating habits it was also established that about 100% of the population reconnoitered consumed carbohydrates in a every day diet, 59.78% consumed day-to-day products that injury health such as: sausages, soft drinks, beer, candies, pacifiers and chocolates, while 39.12% consume fruits, vegetables infrequently, as well the consumption of proteins with 41.31%. Concerning timetables, 29.89% never respect the feeding plan; about 9% never eat breakfast. In the sort of meals more than 90% consume junk food such as French fries, burgers, hot dogs, pizza, 89.67% ingest fried foods, and 38.04% guzzle half a liter of water daily. It is determined that more than half of plaintiffs are with normal weight, while the remaining population has low weight and overweight nutritional status. Los hábitos alimentarios son la expresión de creencias y tradiciones de una población. Esta investigación titula “Estado Nutricional y hábitos alimenticios en Estudiantes de Bachillerato del Colegio Pio Jaramillo Alvarado de Loja” durante el periodo 2017- 2018, tiene como objetivo determinar el estado nutricional y hábitos alimenticios en estudiantes de Bachillerato del Colegio Pio Jaramillo Alvarado. El estudio utilizó un diseño descriptivo, transversal, los instrumentos fueron una encuesta con preguntas cerradas, y técnica de control de peso y talla o medidas antropométricas. La muestra fue 184 estudiantes. Entre los resultados obtenidos se determinó que más del 60 % tiene índice de masa corporal normal, en cuanto a los hábitos alimenticios se estableció que cerca del 100% de la población investigada consume carbohidratos diariamente, un 59,78% consume a diario productos que perjudican la salud tales como: embutidos, refrescos, cerveza, caramelos, chupetes y chocolates, mientras que 39,12% consumen frutas, verduras ocasionalmente, de igual forma el consumo de proteínas con 41.31%. En cuanto a los horarios el 29.89% nunca respeta los horarios de alimentación, cerca del 9% nunca desayuna. En el tipo de comidas más del 90% consume comidas rápidas tales como Papas fritas, hamburguesas, hotdog, pizza, un 89.67% consume alimentos fritos, y un 38.04% consume medio litro de agua diario. Se concluye que más de la mitad de encuestados se encuentra con peso normal, mientras que la población restante presenta estados nutricionales de bajo peso y sobrepeso.
