Determinación morfológica y faneróptica de las gallinas criollas en el cantón Puyango de la provincia de Loja

In this paper fanerópticas and morphometric characteristics of the native hen Gallus domesticus was determined in the different communities of Canton Puyango also the characteristics of poultry production systems . For this purpose the sample size according to the number of the canton UPAs resulting UPAs Study 150 , in which formal and informal surveys were conducted was determined. To obtain the morphometric characteristics: weight ( P ) body length (LC ); chest perimeter ( PP) ; over thigh ( LM ), leg length (LP ) along tarsus (LT ) long wing ( LA) , flange width ( AA ) height peak (AC ) along appendage (LO) ; width appendage (AO ) over chin ( LB ) , chin width ( AB ) , queue length ( LC ) and fanerópticas (pen color, pen type , color of tarsus, color, beak color , color of eggs, egg weight , egg production) was assessed a total of 250 adult birds between males and females of different pens . The results indicate that there are six biotypes ( Cuban , copetona , carioca , walkway, and barbona suta ) each with different characteristics in the canton Puyango . Finding that an average of 200 eggs a year the Cuban biotype is the largest producer. Those responsible for the care of birds is the whole family feeding birds is based exclusively on corn (Zea mays ) , the most frequent diseases in birds is avian pox (10 %), respiratory problems (28 % ) , diarrhea ( 10%), it is noteworthy that there is a 52 % non- presence of disease.
