Gaia:The stairlift platform is part of a wide range of mechanisms that provide mobility solutions to people in wheelchairs, thus allowing them access to different types of buildings. This thesis consists of ¨Design of a wheelchair lift platform for the Julius Doepfner General Hospital in the province of Zamora Chinchipe¨ and whose main objective is to provide a possible solution for the displacement from the ground floor to the first floor of the Hospital building. Through the search for information on the lifting mechanisms for people in wheelchairs present in the market, the platform for curved sections was chosen as the best option. Likewise, based on the regulations: EN 81-40, NTC 2769 and INEN 95, whose rules govern the lifting mechanism for people with reduced mobility, all the components of the proposed stair lift platform were designed and selected. The machine is composed of a mechanical steel structure where the different systems that make it up are: folding platform, access ramps, safety arms, traction or movement, electrical and control. In the same way, through the analysis by finite elements and with the help of the software INVENTOR student version, the static simulation of the main mechanical elements that make up the platform was realized, in order to guarantee the proposed design. In addition, the design consists of a control proposal commanded by a PLC 230 RC to facilitate the operation of the mentioned systems. For constructive details of the stairlift mechanism, the respective planes of the elements that constitute it are presented.
