| Zusammenfassung: | Diabetes Mellitus is a disease that causes a great impact on individual, family and social level, as a chronic, incurable disease requires lifelong treatment, it requires both the patient and care of their families and support network, and only the control, management and adherence to treatment is feasible and effective. The overall objective was to evaluate family support, level of knowledge and adherence to treatment in patient’s diabetics club Catamayo canton in the period January-August 2015. The objectives of this research were; Assess family support; identify the level of knowledge of diabetes; and analyze adherence to treatment in patients diabetics club Catamayo canton. This study was descriptive-cross type, all patients Diabetics Club Catamayo Canton were selected, with a sample of 60 patients, that by applying the Family Apgar, a questionnaire level of knowledge and a survey of adherence to treatment, the following results were obtained: 73% for a normal family support; 53% for intermediate knowledge of pathology sufferers and 43% for inadequate adherence to treatment of their disease. Coming to the conclusions that the assessment of patients about the support your family gives is adequate; there is a lack of information about the disease and their health, probably due to lack of communication or use of communication strategies and poor information and thus poor adherence to treatment.
