Тойм:The consumption of psychoactive substances constitutes a significant issue for public health, with repercussions spanning personal, familial, and social dimensions. Its close relationship with depression is evidenced when adolescents turn to drugs to alleviate their symptoms. The research aimed to determine the relationship between the consumption of psychoactive substances and depression in adolescents; identify the prevalence and etiology of psychoactive substance use; establish the psychosocial factors that predispose individuals to depression; and design an informational guide addressing the causes, effects, prevention strategies, and support to address the problem. It was carried out using a quantitative approach, with a non-experimental, cross-sectional design, and both explanatory and correlational scope, using bibliographic synthesis as the main method. The study population was determined through a literature review applying selection criteria, which made it possible to establish a final sample of 19 articles, data was obtained from the following information sources: Scielo, Dialnet, Science Direct, Redalyc, and PubMed. The results of the research evidenced the relationship between the consumption of psychoactive substances and depression, as factors such as stress, family conflicts, and trauma act as determining factors. The prevalence of psychoactive substance use reveals that the most consumed substances among adolescents are alcohol 48,3 %, tobacco 17,68 %, and marijuana 10,30 %. Moreover, the etiology of psychoactive substance use is attributed to 65 % personal factors, 20 % social factors, and 15 % familial factors. Finally, an informational guide was created to provide key information about the causes, effects, and strategies to confront and effectively address the consumption of psychoactive substances and depression in adolescents
