Factores de riesgo asociados al desarrollo de bronquiolitis en niños atendidos en el hospital Isidro Ayora

Descriptive, qualitative and prospective study was performed in order to know the risk factors that influence the development of Bronchiolitis Acute (BA), the general objective was raised: To determine risk factors for the development of BA in pediatric patients are entered in the "Regional Hospital Isidro Ayora" during the period August 2013 to July 2014; and specific objectives were: 1) To determine the period with the highest number of cases during the year of study, 2) Determine the age group most affected with bronchiolitis, 3) Identify the most affected gender Bronchiolitis 4) Perform a educational talk about the risk factors and basic knowledge of bronchiolitis in pediatric patients, which will be socialized with the families of children diagnosed with the disease. The sample consisted of 53 patients. The information obtained through the interview and medical history of each patient by a record collection previously prepared data, which was analyzed by a statistical model, presenting the results in tables made up of frequencies and percentages. In the results it was observed that of the 53 children in the study, the most important factor of risk associated with the development of BA is to previous contact with a person suffering from upper respiratory illness which accounts for 36% of cases, followed by exposure to cold which corresponds to 19% and did not receive exclusive breastfeeding until 6 months of age with 17%. The period of the year with the highest number of cases between March and May saw 59%. According to the old 39.2% were infants aged 0-6 months and 31% between 6-12 months. Also notable male predominance (66%) of females (34%) was identified. Keywords: BA bronchiolitis
