| Summary: | The prewriting is the strokes that the child makes in mechanical form before contacting the writing, for this it needs the motor maturation, being important that it executes graphomotor exercises. This study seeks to understand the dimensions of prewriting, the graphic stages involved and factors involved in this process. Likewise, it investigates the types of activities that can be used to work in the development of prewriting. On the other hand, the graphomotricity is studied determining the appropriate age to start its teaching and its revelevance in the writing process. Therefore, the present research was framed in analyzing the importance of prewriting and graphomotricity in children from 4 to 5 years. It was also developed with a non-experimental design, descriptive scope, explanatory, mixed approach, which allowedv the description, collection and analysis of quantitative and qualitative data, using deductive, analytical and synthetic methods, in order to identify particular explanations that contributed to the establishment of conclutions and recomendations. The instrument that was used was the scale of pre-writing dimensions, applied to 25 children, showing that 72% of the investitees had shortcomings in pre-writing, mainly in motor and perceptive maturation. In order to contribute to the detected problem, an alternative proposal with creative and innovative activities using different typologies was raised so that it is then executed in the institution. Finally, it was determined according to the results obtained in research similar to the study, that graphomotor activities have a significant impact on the development of prewriting, allowing the child to internalize the fine and thick movements performed in the classroom, and may in the future make written representations that may have a meaning for others.
