Yhteenveto:This research had as general objective: to know the coping strategies in adolescents who do not consume and those who consume alcohol of 16-18 years of the Adolfo Valarezo National School; And as specific objectives: to determine the existence of alcohol consumption, to identify coping strategies, to conduct an analysis of the coping strategies most frequently used, in students who do not consume and those who consume alcohol, and to design a psychotherapeutic proposal with the aim of Avoiding incidence and reducing the prevalence of alcohol consumption among adolescents, taking into account possible coping strategies; As risk behaviors such as alcohol consumption are the result of the inability to address their concerns especially in adolescence. To this end, data were collected from 115 young students of the Adolfo Valarezo National School of 16-18 years. This work was based on descriptive, qualitative-quantitative, analytical and cross-sectional research; The Fydenberg Lewis Coping Scale for Adolescents (ASC) and the AUDIT Alcohol Dependence Disorders Identification Questionnaire developed by the World Health Organization were used as instruments. Once the research instruments have been applied, it has been observed that students who do not consume alcohol present the following functional coping strategies more frequently, concentrating on solving the problem (42.19%); Physical distraction (39.06%), focus on the positive (37.50), and strive and succeed (28.13%). While coping strategies mostly used in students who consume alcohol are: social action (49.02%), social support (49.02%), investing in close friends (29.41%); Reduction of tension (31.37%), ignore the problem (45.10%), and lack of coping (35.29%). When they learned about the coping strategies that are most frequently used by young people who consume alcohol, a group psychoeducational intervention plan was designed to counteract alcohol consumption and improve coping strategies.
