Sammanfattning:The research was carried out in the "Francisco Vivar Castro" University Park, canton and province of Loja, with the purpose of determining the floristic composition, structure and endemism of the woody component of the montane forest; the works were executed from October 2016 to march 2017. A permanent plot of one hectare (100 m x 100 m), subdivided into 25 sub parcel of 400 m2 (20 x 20 m) was installed, all individuals higher or equal than 5 cm of DBH were measured. The circumference where the DBH was taken was painted red, and at 15 cm upwards, placed aluminum plates with a code. For the structural profiles, a transect of 10 x 100 m was recorded, registering all individuals higher than or equal than 5 cm of DBH, at distances X and Y, recording the variety of diameter, height, crown diameter and shape. Endemism was determined by comparative analysis of the species recorded using the Red Book of Endemic Plants of Ecuador. Floristic diversity was determined and the structural parameters were calculated: absolute density (D), relative density (DR), relative dominance (DmR), frequency and importance value index (IVI). For the forest structure, the basal area and volume were calculated by diameter and species classes. The structural profiles of the forest were drawn on millimeter paper to scale and improved using the Adobe Fire Works CS6 program. The woody component of the montane forest in the University Park registered 1 370 individuals belonging to 45 species within 39 genders in 29 families. The forest has a basal area of 16,88 m2 / ha, and a volume of 77,57 m3 / ha. The most ecologically important species are: Alnus acuminata, Palicourea amethystina, Phenax laevigatus and Clethra revoluta; the largest number of individuals is grouped in the first four diametric classes reflecting a typical inverted "J". In the horizontal profile of the forest there is a distribution of species grouped by Palicourea amethystina and Clethra revolute and, scattered by all other species, in the vertical profile three well defined strata were recorded: dominant, codominant and dominated. There are 5 endemic species, Oreopanax andreanus, Oreopanax rosei, Ageratina dendroides, Myrsine sodiroana and Zinowiewia madsenii. Key words: Montane forest, permanent plot, structural parameters, structural profiles and endemism.
