要約:The third development objective of the millennium was to reduce maternal – neonatal morbidity, hence the need for pregnant women to receive guidance on prenatal control, the evolution of pregnancy, identification of disease determinants, as well as prevention of identifiable pathologies through neonatal metabolic screening. This problem motivated the execution of this study that raised as a general objective, to determine in primiparous women the level of knowledge about prenatal control and neonatal metabolic screening. In order to achieve this goal, a quantitative, cross-sectional methodology was applied, with an intervention-oriented approach. The study population was made up of a total of 72 primiparous women who attended the outpatient clinic for prenatal control at the first level of care, during the aforementioned period. Two surveys were applied to them, regarding prenatal control and neonatal metabolic screening. In the initial results, it was observed that primiparous women have a low level of knowledge about prenatal control and neonatal metabolic screening, while the demographic data indicated that women between the ages of 19 and 34 attended the controls more frequently; observing how these influenced the knowledge about the controls, which improved after the application of the intervention carried out by the researcher. It was concluded that the level of knowledge of the pregnant women was deficient at the beginning of the investigation, due to the lack of information, since they improved with the intervention
