| Crynodeb: | Aging is a natural process that has a significant impact on the quality of life of older adults, being more evident in the more advanced years, it is a multidimensional phenomenon that affects biological, psychological and social aspects, and these in turn affect the interpersonal relationships of older adults with their family and social environment. In this sense, the research “Aging and interpersonal relationships of older adults in the Consaguana neighborhood of El Ingenio parish” was developed, which analyzed the relationship between the aging process and the interpersonal relationships of older adults, whose objectives included pointing out the stages of aging, identifying and analyzing the factors that affected their interpersonal relationships. A mixed, exploratory, non-experimental, cross-sectional, non-experimental design was used for the development of the research. The results indicate that factors such as advancing age, physical limitations, physical and cognitive health problems, lack of family support, are determining factors in interpersonal relationships; 17% of adults aged 65 to 74 years have problems of autonomy and physical and cognitive well-being, this indicator increases to 67% in adults aged 75 to 84 years and reaches 100% in adults over 85 years. Aging and its factors have a significant impact on these relationships; as age advances, the deterioration of physical and cognitive health limits their ability to interact, reducing the frequency of family and social interactions; 50% of those surveyed interact with their close relatives only once a month and 65% rarely interact with their friends and neighbors, a situation that increases loneliness, social isolation and conditions the emotional development and quality of life of older adults |
