| Résumé: | Physical, psychological, or sexual violence against girls, boys, and adolescents is one of the main factors that interfere with the development of this age group. Although it is a matter of concern, it is still present in society under precepts that normalize it and make it invisible, and in many cases, they leave it unpunished. In this research, various adolescent scenarios are explored in the southern region of Ecuador, province of Loja, Catamayo canton to analyze many of the attitudes that are immersed in the daily life of the young people of that town. For this purpose, the research analyzes this situation and denotes the prevalence of gender violence. Furthermore, this study is part of a research project from the National University of Loja called “Asymmetry of power in gender violence in the southern region of Ecuador” and doing so constituted a baseline, a study was carried out with a descriptive, exploratory, and crosssectional approach, in a non-probabilistic population sample of 144 people to whom a survey was applied. The result was that 23.78% of young people in Catamayo stated that they had been victims of gender violence on at least one occasion throughout their adolescence. In conclusion, there is a significant prevalence of this public health problem in the region, a situation that requires timely comprehensive attention |
