| সংক্ষিপ্ত: | The general objective of this research is to design a program about financial culture and education for the students of "Mercedes de Jesús Molina" High School oriented to the understanding of basic financial concepts and the development of skills to facilitate money administration and planning. This study was carried out based on the students’ limitations because of their lack of knowledge about financial products and concepts. The methodology applied for this study was a descriptive approach. The research instrument was a questionnaire of twenty-seven questions distributed in three sections: socioeconomic characteristics of young people, level of financial education, and financial planning and management. OECD’s Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) was used as a reference to analyze the participants’ level of financial knowledge. The results show that 66% of the students had a level two or three of financial knowledge, which means that they had little understanding of concepts, terms, and financial products commonly used. Likewise, it was shown that it is important to design a financial education program to strengthen the participants’ financial knowledge since the students reached level five of financial knowledge after the program was applied. Finally, it is concluded that this type of program is effective since it helps students to strengthen their financial skills. It is recommended to include financial topics in the school's curriculum so that students can plan their finances effectively. |
