Özet:In order to determine the real size by femoral length and prediction of the real weight using the clinical method of Johnson Toshach in users entered in the labor section of Isidro Ayora Hospital from Loja, during the period between July 2013 to July 2014, a descriptive, prospective, quantitative design with a cross-sectional study was conducted, the sample consisted of 113 pregnant women with a mean age of 28.14 years with a diagnosis of pregnancy 37 to 41 weeks. When comparing fetal size predicted by ultrasonography according to the fetal size table elaborated by Vintzileos et al (1984) with the real size of the newborn, it was observed that the values obtained according Vintzileos not predict those obtained in neonates in the study population, allowing develop a new regression equation that fits our population where fetal size in centimeters is equal to 4.15 + 0.63 x femoral length in millimeters. Predicting from fetal femur length has an accuracy of 72% in this study and a sensitivity of 40.7%. Also, analyzing the clinical utility of Johnson Toshach method for prediction of neonatal fetal weight was obtained in this clinical method a sensitivity of 71.6%, making predicting fetal weight with a margin of error of 126 grams. Concluding that both methods can help in the diagnosis of growth retardation, which can take the necessary corrective measures. Keywords: Determination femoral length y Johnson Toshach.
