The Panamerican Health Organization, 2011, defines abdominal pain as the most important manifestation of most of the disorders. The main objective of the present study is to know the handling of the abdominal pain in users who visit the Emergency Service of the Catacocha Basic Hospital in the period of March to July 2016; and the specific objectives are: 1. To determine which kind of analgesia is the most frequently used in the handling of abdominal pain in users who visit the emergency; 2. To determine which were the most frequent pathologies found in users who presented abdominal pain in emergency; 3. To determine the handling of surgical abdominal pain in emergency users. This investigation carries out a descriptive, quantitative, retrospective study, employing 500 patients with abdominal pain; obtaining a sample of 64 patients who meet the inclusion and exclusion criteria; A data collection report was prepared by the author; Obtaining the following results; 44% were treated with tramadol; 3% antispasmodic; 42% The most frequent cause of abdominal pain was appendicitis; 11% mesenteric adenitis. The management of acute abdominal pain in patients diagnosed with appendicitis was: 15 patients with tramadol; 5 patients with ketorolac; While those diagnosed for cholecystitis were managed: 5 patients with tramadol; 5 patients with ketorolac. The most frequent analgesic used in the treatment of abdominal pain at the Catacocha Basic Hospital was tramal with 44%, ketorolac with 42%, and antispasmodics with 6%. Según el Instituto Nacional de Estadísticas y Censos del Ecuador, 2011, determina que el dolor abdominal estuvo entre las 10 primeras causas de morbilidad en el país. La Organización Panamericana de la Salud, 2011, define al dolor abdominal como la manifestación más importante de los trastornos. El presente trabajo tuvo como objetivo general conocer cuál es el manejo del dolor abdominal en usuarios que acuden al servicio de emergencia del Hospital Básico Catacocha en el periodo de Marzo-Julio 2016; y como objetivos específicos: 1. Determinar el tipo de analgesia que se utilizó con más frecuencia en el manejo del dolor abdominal en los usuarios que acudieron a emergencia; 2. Determinar cuáles fueron las patologías más frecuentes encontradas en usuarios que presentaban dolor abdominal en emergencia; 3. Determinar cómo se manejó el dolor abdominal agudo en los usuarios que acudieron a emergencia. En esta investigación, se realizó un estudio descriptivo, cuantitativo, retrospectivo, cuyo universo fue de 500 pacientes con dolor abdominal, obteniéndose una muestra de 64 pacientes que cumplieron con los criterios de inclusión y exclusión; se elaboró una hoja de recolección de datos por el autor; obteniendo los siguientes resultados; 44% se manejó el dolor con tramadol; 3% antiespasmódico; 42% la causa más frecuente de dolor abdominal fue apendicitis; 11% adenitis mesentérica; el manejo del dolor abdominal agudo en los pacientes diagnosticados de apendicitis se lo realizó: 15 pacientes con tramado, y 7 pacientes con ketorolaco; mientras que los diagnosticados de colecistitis se manejó: 5 pacientes con tramadol, y 5 pacientes con ketorolaco. El analgésico más frecuente que se utilizó en el tratamiento del dolor abdominal fue el tramadol con el 44%, y un antiespasmódico con el 6%.
