There are some studies about the growth of Biloxi variety under different conditions showing more growth at a lower altitude, but associated to the replacement of the requirements this variety was developed with in its initial habitat. That is why the need to study Biloxi variety development and growth appears, which has been liberated and used under different conditions, showing a good adaptation in the tropics zones, due to its precociousness. The objective of this research was to evaluate the vegetative growth and development of Biloxi variety. It was settled on three different altitudinal floors in Loja province, under open field conditions with a homogeneous treatment until the end of the test. This is why the field phase was carried out on three altitudinal floors in Loja city, which belongs to Loja canton at 2 141 m. a. s. l., in Landangui Neighborhood, Malacatos parish which belongs to Loja canton at 1 555 m. a. s. l., and in Zapotepamba Neighborhood Casanga parish which belongs to Paltas canton at 900 m. a. s. l., during a period of four months (October 2018 – February 2019) under a DCA arrangement with three treatments and fifteen repetitions. Inside the measures the following variables were registered: plant height, coverage, number of stems, length of sprout, number of the sprout brooms, TCA and TCR of the sprout length and diameter, foliar area of the sprout and IAF. In order to observe the relationship with the growth rates, Relative Humidity and Effective Temperature were considered as well. As part of the results, until the end of this research the treatments did not present a meaningful growth in relation with the height, length of the sprout, number of stems and brooms. However, Loja treatment showed a significance in relation with the foliar area of the sprout and IAF. The temperature had an influence in Landangui and Zapotepamba treatment in relation with the analysis of the growth rates. Key words: Biloxi variety, altitudinal floors.

Key words: Biloxi variety, altitudinal floors.El arándano (Vaccinium corymbosum L.) es un cultivo con demanda exponencial a nivel mundial. Si bien, las investigaciones en países del trópico se iniciaron hace pocos años, el conocimiento de su desarrollo en condiciones como las que posee nuestro país, aún está siendo clarificado; hay estudios sobre el crecimiento de la variedad Biloxi en condiciones diversas, con resultados que muestran mayor crecimiento a menor altitud, pero, a ello se relaciona el suplir los requerimientos en los que la variedad fue desarrollada en su hábitat inicial. Por lo tanto, surge la necesidad de evaluar el crecimiento y desarrollo de la variedad Biloxi, la misma que ha sido liberada y utilizada en diferentes condiciones, demostrando buena adaptación en zonas del trópico, debido a su precocidad. El objetivo de la investigación consistió en evaluar el crecimiento y desarrollo vegetativo de la variedad Biloxi en tres pisos altitudinales de la provincia de Loja, se instaló el experimento en su totalidad, a condiciones de campo abierto, con un trato homogéneo hasta el final del ensayo. En tal razón, la fase de campo se realizó en 3 pisos altitudinales, por lo que se ejecutó en la ciudad de Loja perteneciente al cantón Loja a 2 141 m s.n.m., en el Barrio Landangui de la parroquia Malacatos perteneciente al cantón de Loja a 1 555 m s.n.m. y en el Barrio Zapotepamba de la parroquia Casanga perteneciente al cantón Paltas a 900 m s.n.m., por un lapso de 4 meses (octubre 2018 a febrero 2019), bajo un arreglo DCA con 3 tratamientos y 15 repeticiones. Dentro de las mediciones se registraron las siguientes variables: altura de planta, cobertura, número de tallos, longitud del brote, diámetro del brote, número de metámeros del brote, TCA y TCR de la longitud y del diámetro del brote, área foliar del brote e IAF. Además, se consideró la variable Humedad Relativa y Temperatura Efectiva, con el fin de observar correlación con las tasas de crecimiento. Como parte de los resultados, hasta el final de la investigación los tratamientos no presentaron un crecimiento significativo en cuanto a altura, longitud del brote, número de tallos y número de metámeros; sin embargo, el tratamiento Loja mostró significancia en cuanto al área foliar del brote e IAF. La temperatura tuvo influencia en el tratamiento Landangui y Zapotepamba en cuanto al análisis de las tasas de crecimiento.
