Zusammenfassung:Chronic kidney disease is defined as the inability of the kidneys to perform filtering and purifying functions. The disease involves significant changes in the style, mode, and quality of life of patients. This adaptation requires the use of various coping styles, defined as the ways in which people cope with stressful situations. This research aimed to describe the scientific evidence on coping styles in patients with chronic illness and their families, identify the most common coping styles among patients and their immediate family members, and design a psychoeducational guide to address the issue. A non-experimental, cross-sectional qualitative approach with a descriptive, documentary-type scope was used, employing a bibliographic synthesis method. The study population included scientific literature available in databases such as Semantic Scholar, Science Direct, Dialnet, Pubmed, Redalyc, and Scielo. Selection criteria were applied, forming a sample of 20 scientific articles. The results indicate that the coping styles of patients and their families are generally positive and focused on various strategies, with a primary focus on problem-solving. However, to a lesser extent, negative coping styles were also identified, involving emotion-focused strategies. Finally, these findings highlight the importance of creating an informative guide aimed at providing information about these coping styles and strategies, both positive and negative, to improve the quality of life of users
