Descripció
Sumari:Toxoplasmosis is a compelling and opportunistic intracellular infectious disease, which goes unnoticed, but is seen in immunosuppressed patients infected with the HIV virus. 60% of the world population has antibody titers against Toxoplasma gondii, 10-50% of patients with HIV and positive serology, toxoplasmic positive encephalitis, while 1 in 357 patients suffer from ocular toxoplasmosis, and is responsible for less than 1% of pulmonary complications. In Ecuador there are limited studies on the relationship of these pathologies, in the province of Loja there are no studies that demonstrate their prevalence, so the following objectives are carried out with this research: to establish the number of patients with HIV/AIDS coinfected with Toxoplasmosis according to sex, age group and CD4 count, identify the most frequent clinical manifestations and establish the relationship between their presence with a CD4 lymphocyte count <200 cells/ul. The study was of a retrospective descriptive-quantitative type in the period April 2013-2018, carried out at the HIV Clinic of the Teófilo Dávila Loja Hospital, with a population of 328 patients, who through inclusion and exclusion criteria studied a sample of 69 (21.04%), of which 76.81% were male and 23.19% female, the most prevalent age group was 30-34 years with 27.54% (19), while the 39.13% (27) visualization a CD4 count <200 cells/ul, which is related to the presence of cerebral, ocular and pulmonary manifestations. Key Words: antibodies, retrospective, encephalitis, intracellular, CD4 lymphocytes.
