| Sumari: | This research was developed in one of the most important coffee production areas in the province of Loja, such as the Puyango canton, in its different parishes. They were raised as objectives; first, to describe the characteristics of the links in the value chain for washed and conventional coffee, and second, to establish the cost-benefit relationship of the actors according to the structure of the value chain for washed and conventional coffee, from the production to the consumer. The information was made through in situ surveys to the farmers, the data information was collected directly from the actors. Coffee production has been the livelihood of many coffee-growing families within the canton for years; However, the productivity of coffee plantations has been in decline, due to the lack of application of fertilizers, increase in the value of labor, no control of pests or diseases, low prices of production, few opportunities for new markets, among others. Therefore, several links, actors and activities are immersed in the production chain, this study characterized each of the stages of the value chain: production, processing, commercialization and consumption, also identifying each of the actors, whether direct or indirect. On the other hand our study, determined the profitability and cost-benefit of the activities carried out by the actors in the value chain, with the different marketing margins. Key words: Characterization, stages, actors, value chain, profitability, benefit-cost. |
