| الملخص: | STIs among sex workers is an important issue for remain a high risk group, even when considering the non-use of condoms as a measure of self-care, either through carelessness or customer requirements, thereby increasing the likelihood of acquiring and transmitting STIs. Every day in the world, almost a million people contract an STI. This research has the overall objective to determine the level of knowledge about STIs and self-care practices in target sex workers in the Health Center No. 1 of Loja. This study was descriptive, because I allow to know the reality in knowledge and self-care practices in the group of sex workers attended the Health Centre Shop No. 1, a total of 35 women. A survey was designed, with a total of 13 questions, with different categories including: very, good and bad in relation to knowledge and self-care practices that sex workers have against sexually transmitted infections, such survey was conducted in when receiving health care in the operating unit where the study was conducted. Concluding that most sex workers have a poor knowledge about STIs, noting that large percentage of respondents perform self-care practices as described in the theoretical framework.
