Shrnutí:Pain is a symptom of great influence in hospitalized patients, its duration and intensity depends on the management applied to reduce it, since the longer the pain remains over time, the greater negative effects it causes on the quality of life of people who suffer However, although we know of this and have the means available to manage the pain, some deficiencies still persist in terms of the procedure performed by the nurses to manage it. For this reason, a research focused on determining the management of pain in hospitalized patients was developed by the staff of nurses of the General Hospital "Isidro Ayora Loja", which was descriptive and cross-sectional through the application of the survey that allowed analyze the practices carried out to reduce pain. In this sense, it is corroborated that nurses have knowledge about how pain should be assessed, in addition to recognizing the type of pain by communicating directly with the patient, who in turn intervenes in its location so that its intensity can then be measured with the numerical scale and provide relevant analgesics in a timely manner, which consequently reflects the satisfaction of patients with the management carried out by nursing professionals in the treatment of their pain and demonstrates their efficient management. Key words: management, pain, hospitalized patients, nurses, satisfaction.
