Yhteenveto:Acute diarrheal disease is still the subject of world attention, since the lack of information about prevention and treatment is a common problem, which is getting stronger prevention efforts aimed at the determinants of the disease and timely treatment in order to prevent death from dehydration and malnutrition. The present research entitled: “KNOWLEDGE AND PRACTICE ABOUT THE PREVENTION AND MANAGE OF ACUTE DIARRHEAL DISEASE, IN MOTHERS CHILDRE OF CENTRO INFANTIL DEL BUEN VIVIR SAN SEBASTIAN MIES, LOJA 2014–2015”, whose objective was to determine the maternal knowledge and practices about prevention and management of acute diarrheal disease. Was implemented a descriptive research methodology that involved 45 mothers of children who attend the CIVB. As technique for collecting information was used the survey, and as instrumeent the form of questions, for information processing was used the informatic program Excel, which was used for the representation of information in tables. The results of this study show that knowledge of the mothers about prevention and management of acute diarrheal disease, a higher percentage know the correct definition of diarrhea, as well as actions that reduce the risk of diarrhea occur, however a significant group still do not know risk factors for developing the disease. The knowledge of mothers on the management of acute diarrheal disease, was evident that most have adequate information respectively. As for the practices of mothers about prevention of acute diarrheal disease it was determined that most of them present adequate practices. Management practices of acute diarrhea the highest percentage of participant’s mantain adequate practices, but in a smaller percentage still remains inadequate practices regarding the continuity of daily feeding and breastfeeding during diarrheal process.
