description Poor therapeutic adherence increases the risk of complications in patients with DM2. The present investigation allows us to know the relationship between therapeutic adherence and cardiovascular risk, in order to obtain data that provide health personnel with information for the evaluation of the effectiveness of management strategies for patients with DM2 and in turn encourage the commitment and coordination of all personnel involved. A correlational, descriptive, qualitative approach, prospective cross-sectional cohort study was carried out, made up of 95 patients with DM2 treated at the Catacocha Health Center and who met the inclusion criteria. A survey of the patients was carried out, the clinical records were reviewed and the information was collected in a form. For the statistical analysis, the IBM SPSS and Microsoft Excel programs were used. It was evidenced that 53.7% (n=51) of the patients fully adhered to the therapeutic treatment, 41.1% (n=39) partially and 5.3% (n=5) did not adhere, with a predominance of Sex. female with an age range of 50 to 59 years. CVR was estimated using the UKPDS Score. Results: It was evidenced that 65% have a medium cardiovascular risk, being higher in women than in men with an average age between 55 and 65 years. Males and older people had higher cardiovascular risk. The relationship between therapeutic adherence and cardiovascular risk was statistically significant p < 0.05. It is concluded that people with adequate therapeutic adherence have a lower cardiovascular risk compared to those with poor therapeutic adherence

It is concluded that people with adequate therapeutic adherence have a lower cardiovascular risk compared to those with poor therapeutic adherenceUna adherencia terapéutica deficiente incrementa el riesgo de complicaciones en los pacientes con diabetes mellitus tipo 2 (DM2).
