La violencia dentro de la pareja queda en la impunidad debido al abandono del proceso por parte de la víctima

Intimate partner violence is one of the most relevant problems to be addressed in today's society, since this problem may arise as a result of the imbalance of power and control within the family system, whether due to the economic situation, beliefs regarding violence and cohabitation, level of education, shame and fear of reporting due to social stereotypes and personal characteristics. It refers to the abusive behavior that occurs between two people in a romantic relationship, this violence can occur in married people, people who live together or in couples dating or in love. Violence in the relationship dynamics of the couple is a silent phenomenon that has become a serious social and health problem, which can begin in courtship as a prelude and then move and worsen during marital cohabitation. Violence against women refers to any violent act or abuse that targets a woman because of her gender. On the other hand, it is not very common to hear about violence against men in a couple, because historically, a stereotype characterized by physical strength and insensitivity has been created around the male figure, contrary to that created for women. Abandonment of the process can occur for various reasons. In practice, at the time of filing a complaint with the Prosecutor's Office, the victim, whether male or female, may decide not to go to testify, to undergo psychological or social environment assessments or other expert opinions; It is in these cases that the prosecutor decides to file the process for lack of appearance, this may occur due to economic dependence, by habit, by psychological dependence, among other factors that influence to continue with the process but the victim decides to continue living in this circle of violence, therefore normalizing these acts and leaving them in impunity.
