Trastorno ansioso-depresivo y consumo de sustancias psicoactivas en estudiantes de carrera de medicina de la Universidad Nacional de Loja

Anxiety and depressive disorders are very frequent, are considered among the main causes of disability worldwide and they are responsible for a significant personal burden, as well as a high cost in health, and the consumption of certain substances such as alcohol and tobacco can affect these conditions even more. The purpose of this research work is to identify the depressive anxiety disorder and the consumption of psychoactive substances in medical students of the Universidad Nacional de Loja. It is a non-experimental, cross-sectional, descriptive, prospective design study, in which the Goldberg 28-item scale was applied to look for depression and anxiety, in addition the Audit test to measure alcohol consumption, and the Fragestrom test to measure tobacco consumption. The sample consisted of 123 patients, the following results were obtained: 38.2 % of the patients presented anxiety and 14.6 % presented depression. Regarding alcohol consumption, 35.2 % of the patients drink alcohol once a month and 13.0 % drink alcohol two to four times a month. Regarding tobacco consumption, only 7.3% consumed it. Therefore, it can be concluded that there is a high percentage of anxious-depressive disorder in the students who participated in the study in addition there is evidence that there is a high consumption of alcohol, but the prevalence of smoking is low.
