Description
Summary:This research study was carried out with the purpose of determine the effect of different levels of Omega-3 on the progeny of mice (Mus musculus) in three reproductive cycles; to do this, three treatments were defined; the first with the addition of 2% of olive oil and 3% Chia oil, the second with the addition of 5% of chia and the witness with 5% of olive oil. Furthermore, 15 female–mice were used by treatment of the strain CDR-51 with an average weight of 36 g. The food supply was in the morning and in the afternoon; a completely randomized design was used with three treatments, fifteen repetitions. Besides, the variables of this study were the consumption of food, weight, food efficiency, weight of litter at weaning, the litter size at weaning, sex of the litter and litter survival. A mixed model of repeated measurements was used for statistical analysis. The results gotten are the following: the litter on control size is 12% and survival is 8.40%, the weight of the litter as media groups of treatments have a 50.6% and with respect to the number of females obtained in the treatments the chia Group 5% had a greater number of females with 47.9%. In conclusion, changes in the diet of fatty acid profile can modify the size and sex of the litters.
