| Achoimre: | Suicidal ideation is a cognitive condition of great risk for those who suffer from it; it distorts the individual's perception and makes him/her become negative and pessimistic with respect to the idea of existence and life itself. This topic has a place in the improvement of a comprehensive oncological treatment and the psychological impact it causes in the deterioration of the mental health of patients diagnosed with cancer. The present study focuses on investigating the percentage prevalence of suicidal ideation in patients with diagnosed cancer, in addition to identifying the factors that are related to the occurrence of the same under these conditions. The study is based on a review of scientific literature; for its elaboration, 12 scientific articles published in several countries of the world, in a period of time between 2012 and 2023, were used. Use was made of scientific articles based on bibliographic studies and field research to expand the study population and to be able to diversify and expand the data according to the number of cases. Results: the prevalence of suicidal ideation in patients with a diagnosis of cancer was 15.25%, out of a total of 12179 individuals, which were the total number of cases collected by the scientific articles analyzed. Additionally, it was possible to identify that the factors most frequently associated with suicidal ideation in this population are: depression, anxiety, pain and the stage of the disease |
