Čoahkkáigeassu: | Septicemia is the presence of pathogenic microorganisms or their toxins in the blood originated from a source in which the seeds are housed, as is the case fomites are substances or objects on which microorganisms can be retained and through which they are transmitted. (1) In this research we identified bacterial contaminants of fomites ( pressure monitors, disinfectant solutions for inhalation therapy equipment, nebulizers, termocunas, catheters, sinks, soap dispensers, faucets ) Neonatology Area Regional Hospital Isidro Ayora, that may predispose infants to develop sepsis during their hospital stay, taking a total of 100 cultures, bacterial identification was performed using manual and culture microbiological methods and biochemical tests, being a cross-sectional descriptive study. We identified potential contaminants of fomites bacterial agents, such as: 48% Staphylococcus coagulase-negative in nebulizers, termocunas, soap dispensers, faucets, sinks, scales and light switches; Klebsiella spp 14% in faucets, sinks and termocunas, Klebsiella oxytoca and Escherichia coli 10% respectively in faucets and sinks, Klebsiella pneumoniae 10% in nebulizers, faucets and toilets; Pseudomonas aeruginosa 10% in faucets, sinks and soap dispensers. Getting the 21% of positive cases and 79% of negative cases. The results were compared with data from positive cases of neonatal sepsis Regional Hospital Isidro Ayora in which was found to Staphylococcus coagulase-negative as the main causative agent of septicemia with a rate of 60% and Pseudomonas aeruginosa by 20%, is applied an observation guide, identifying factors for acquiring nosocomial infection as inadequate ventilation, inadequate clothing in the area, inadequate cleaning and surface areas, poor elimination of waste (diapers, etc.), and incorrect handling neonates. Wordskey: sepsis in neonates, germs, neonatology area. |
