| סיכום: | The purpose of this study was to analyze deforestation and fragmentation of the Dayuma Sector, Orellana province, located northwest of Yasuni National Park. Satellite images were used Landsat 5 satellite images from 1987 and Landsat 8 from 2018 were used for the classification of coverage in order to determine the changes in land use; in addition, the TerrSet software was used to estimate the gains, losses and net change of the different hedges. Subsequently, an analysis of the deforestation of the Yasuni protected area (PA) and the surroundings of the unprotected area (NPA) was made in order to calculate the deforestation rate. Finally, the FragStat Software evaluated the fragmentation of both areas showing the following metrics: number of patches, density of patches, contagion, shape index and class area. The results indicated that during 1987 the forest represented 262 437,19 ha (97,33% of the landscape); however, results showed that in 2018 there is a loss of 23 312 ha, which represents the 89,53% (241 409,14 ha of the landscape). Likewise, the Yasuní protected area reports a deforestation rate of -0,013% which is far from the unprotected area, that is -0,33%. This research also found similar patterns of land associated with anthropic zones and agricultural areas. In addition, the analysis of the fragmentation metrics showed a tendency to increase forest fragmentation in both areas. However, the greatest change in forest cover and forest fragmentation was observed in the unprotected area surrounding the protected area, where oil activities, transport, and agricultural activities are the main activities that promote the forest loss, deforestation and landscape fragmentation. It is important to understand what causes the loss of the forest cover in order to comprehend the patterns of this landscape change.
