| description | In the present investigation an epidemiological descriptive study and cross-section, in which knowledge and practices about dengue prevention in students from first to third year of high school the Zapotillo National College were reflected during the period January was held - July 2016, data were obtained through a survey that students of the school the same who met the criteria for inclusion and exclusion was applied, with the following results: in epidemiological variables 56% of students from sex male, 53% are between 16 and 17 years and 68.5% belong to the urban sector; with regard to knowledge about this disease the 54.71% have a good knowledge about dengue; 45.29% are regularly the knowledge about this disease. With regard to the 48.98% practices takes appropriate measures to prevent dengue pathology practices, ie remove accumulated water, hatcheries, clean the house, throw the trash and unused objects; while 51.02% are inadequate to prevent dengue practices. Keywords: dengue, knowledge, practicesEn la presente investigación se realizó un estudio epidemiológico de tipo descriptivo y de corte transversal, en la que se reflejaron los conocimientos y prácticas sobre la prevención del dengue en los estudiantes de primer a tercer año de bachillerato del Colegio Nacional Zapotillo, durante el período Enero – Julio del 2016, los datos fueron obtenidos mediante una encuesta que se aplicó a los estudiantes de dicho colegio los mismos que cumplieron con los criterios de inclusión y exclusión, obteniéndose los siguientes resultados: en las variables epidemiológicas un 56% de estudiantes son de sexo masculino, un 53% se encuentra entre los 16 y 17 años, y el 68.5% pertenecen al sector urbano; en lo que respecta al conocimiento acerca de esta enfermedad el 54.71% tiene un conocimiento bueno sobre el dengue; mientras el 45.29% tiene conocimiento regular sobre esta enfermedad. En lo que respecta a las prácticas el 48.98% realiza prácticas adecuadas para prevenir la patología del dengue, es decir eliminan el agua acumulada, los criaderos, limpian la casa, botan la basura, y objetos en desuso; mientras que el 51.02% tiene prácticas inadecuadas para prevenir el dengue.
