Yhteenveto:Adolescence is the period of human development comprised between childhood and adulthood. A pregnancy at this stage leads to a series of situations that may threaten the health of the adolescent mother and newborn from the complications that may be generated. With this research work it was determined the morbidity and mortality in the newborn and the pathologies that arose during pregnancy. This present research descriptive prospective work was performed in 50 newborn children of adolescent mothers who were treated in the neonatology area of Isidro Ayora Hospital of Loja during the period of May 2014 to March 2015. It was found that the most common disease is multifactorial jaundice 34%, followed by respiratory distress syndrome type 1 with a 20% and the intrauterine pneumonia with a 16%. The cause of death was due to severe prematurity with a 4%. The most obvious pathology in adolescent mothers is the Urinary Tract Infection with a 44%. Also it was found that the background and risk factors during pregnancy impacted directly on the diseases found in newborns. Endangering the adolescent mother and son duo.
