| Резюме: | Fiber is a dietary component that enhances intestinal health, nutrient digestion, absorption processes, and productivity indicators in animal husbandry. The present work was oriented to evaluate the effect of the inclusion of different levels of soluble and insoluble fiber on productive indicators in post-weaning guinea pigs. The trial was carried out at the Center for Research, Development, and Innovation in Animal Nutrition (CIDiNA) of the National University of Loja; 40 weaned guinea pigs of 15 days of age, of both sexes, were distributed in four experimental groups to a randomized block design with 2x2 factorial arrangement; four experimental diets with high and low levels of soluble (SF) and insoluble (IF) fiber were evaluated for 10 days; data on live weight, average daily gain, average daily consumption and feed conversion were collected and recorded. The results showed no interaction between the factors under study; however, final weight, mean daily gain and feed intake were higher in guinea pigs fed the diet containing high levels of soluble and insoluble fiber, with mean values of 362.8; 9.1; and 33.6 g respectively; feed conversion was better in guinea pigs fed a diet low in soluble fiber and high in insoluble fiber, with a value of 3.2. To conclude, including high levels of soluble and insoluble fiber in the diet of post-weaning guinea pigs enhances their productive indicators. |
