| الملخص: | The general objective of this research is to carry out a study focused on people’s knowledge, attitude and practice regarding the use and management of credit cards. This descriptive study was carried out by applying a quantitative approach and deductive, inductive and analytical methods. The population of the study comprised 81 credit-card users from El Pangui, Zamora Chinchipe. Based on the responses from a questionnaire of 15 questions, people’s knowledge, attitudes and practices regarding credit-card use were determined. In addition, a questionnaire and literature review were the research instruments used to collect data and obtain results. The results show that only 25% of the population have a lot of/enough knowledge about credit-card management, the remaining 75% state that they have little or none knowledge about credit cards. The comparative analysis between credit-card users from Banco de Pichincha and Banco de Loja shows that they have a delinquency rate of 3.21% and 1.67%, respectively, for their consumer loans. The proposed financial guide provides credit-card users the necessary information to increase their knowledge and skills regarding credit-card management so they are able to take full advantage of the benefits of using a credit card. Finally, it is concluded that the reasons why credit-card users who have had problems using credit cards are mostly related to the lack of knowledge of cut-off and payment dates, and the costs involved in these cards, which results in most of them feeling dissatisfied with the products and services of financial institutions. |
