Two hundred male guinea pigs, with an average weight of 390 ± 96 g, were use. The distribution was randomized with 25 experimental units per treatment. Four isoenergetic and isoproteic diets were formulated (approximately 2700 Kcal/kg of digestible energy and 15 % of crude protein) with levels of 34, 38, 42 and 46 % of neutral detergent fiber (NDF). The variables evaluated were absolute and relative weight of digestive organs, absolute and relative length of small intestine, pH of stomach and cecum. The treatments were compared by applying an analysis of variance, obtaining the following results. Increased of NDF increases the weight of the total digestive tract, being the small intestine and cecum the sections where this effect is observed to a greater extent. Relative weight was higher with the inclusion of 46 % (5.09 % of BW) for the small intestine and 38 % (7.20 % of BW) for the ce- cum. The relative length of the small intestine was higher with the inclusion of 46 % (33.7cm/g BW). The pH of the stomach and cecum did not change, with mean values of 4.1 and 6.6, respectively. The results suggest that the intake of diets with high le- vels of neutral detergent fiber increases the weight and length of the gastrointestinal tract. Por ello, el objetivo del presente trabajo fue evaluar el efecto de diferentes niveles de fibra insoluble en el tracto digestivo de cuyes en cebo. Se trabajaron 200 cuyes machos, con peso promedio de 390 ± 96 g. La distribucio´n fue al azar con 25 unidades experimentales por tratamiento. Se formularon cuatro dietas isoenergeticas e isoproteicas (aproximadamente con 2700 kcal/kg de energía digestible y 15 % de Proteína Cruda) con niveles de 34, 38, 42 y 46 % de fibra neutro detergente (FND). Las variables evaluadas fueron peso absoluto y relativo de o´rganos digestivos, longitud absoluta y relativa de intestino delgado, pH de esto´mago y de ciego. Los tratamientos fueron comparados aplicando un ana´lisis de varianza, obteniendo los siguientes resultados. El incremento de FND aumenta el peso del tracto digestivo total, siendo el intestino delgado y el ciego las secciones donde se observa en mayor medida este efecto. El peso relativo fue superior con la inclusio´n de 46 % (5,09 % de PV) para el intestino delgado y 38 % (7,20 % de PV) para el ciego. La longitud relativa del intestino delgado fue superior con la inclusio´n de 46 % (33,7cm/g PV). El pH del esto´mago y ciego no presento´ modificaciones, siendo sus valores medios 4,1 y 6,6 respectivamente. Los resultados sugieren que, la ingesta de dietas con altos niveles de fibra neutro detergente aumentan el peso y la longitud del tracto gastrointestinal.
