Summary:ICTs constitute a vital tool for micro and small enterprises working in conjunction with other resources such as materials, raw materials, energy, human capital, information and communication created a high level of competitiveness and development opportunities for all these resources are fundamental across enterprise. This research was based on assessing the impact of new technologies of information and communication (ICT) in the performance of the micro and small business retailer of the city of Loja in 2017, this applied an exploratory analysis of the current situation of the city of Loja on issues such as distribution for trade networks, features of the economic sectors of the city, development of micro-enterprises among other issues. Was established in the same way as the access, use and adoption of ICTs is influencing the creation of competitive advantages through a descriptive analysis, this a questionnaire was used to obtain information first-hand by city traders a random sampling. It was finally concluded with the elaboration of a proposal that will benefit and facilitate access, use and adoption of ICTs in order to study. The study population were the retailers in the city of Loja taken randomly. Research is bibliographic and descriptive mostly where inductive, deductive, scientific method was used and analytical. Once analyzed the results it is concluded that 100% of the respondents applied and somehow use ICT in their daily activities. The use of ICT creates a competitive advantage to establishments employing it for the reduction in costs, response time to business processes and generate positive economic results. However, the training of traders is required to strengthen the competitive advantage of their business over rivals.
