Περίληψη:Ecuador has shown a pattern of historically limited economic growth, with an average rate of 2.00%, which is insufficient to achieve sustained and sustainable development. In this context, the objective of this research is to evaluate the effect of female labor participation on the economic growth of Ecuador during the period 1990-2022, using statistical and econometric techniques of time series data, with the purpose of proposing guidelines for public policy to mitigate the country's low economic growth. To do this, data were obtained from the Penn World Table published by the Groningen Growth and Development Center and the World Development Indicators of the World Bank, subsequently, statistical models of time series, Ordinary Least Squares, spectral and Granger causality were applied. The results reveal a significant positive impact of female labor participation on economic growth, as well as a short and long term relationship between both variables. Furthermore, Granger and Breitung and Candelon causality models identified a unidirectional causal link from economic growth to human capital and a bidirectional causal link between female labor force participation and economic growth. Therefore, it is recommended to strengthen legislation on equal pay and promotion opportunities for women. Likewise, the development of training and professional updating programs is suggested, codesigned and cofinanced by the public and private sectors, aimed at the specific needs of the labor market and the professional aspirations of women.
