總結:Feeding in children aged 0 and 6 months, is based on exclusive breast milk, which contains basic nutrients that promote brain response of children, and influence their cognitive and motor development. Among these are; polyunsaturated essential fatty acids: docosahexaenoic acid and arachidonic acid, which are involved in development and maturation of the central nervous system, like retina. The formula is not an acceptable substitute since it does not replace such components. That is because this study seeks to determine the psychomotor development and its relationship with feeding received during the first 6 months of life in children 1-3 years in CIBV Pedestal Loja. Methodology used is descriptive and cross-sectional, a survey and test of Denver were applied. Featured findings were: of 60 children studied, 85% passed the test of psychomotor development in the 4 areas and 15% failed, being fed, majority of children with breast milk exclusively. Also, it was found agreement with type of perceived food during the first six months, showing that those fed breast milk exclusively, managed fewer failures in Test psychomotor development; formula-fed, they got more failures especially in areas of language and fine motor. Keywords: Exclusive breastfeeding, polyunsaturated fatty acids, psychomotor development, Test of Denver.
