الملخص:The present investigation approached the issue of perceived stress and coping strategies in persons deprived of liberty of the Social Rehabilitation Center of Loja city, because stress is a common factor in daily life, even more so when the individual is deprived of his liberty, being essential the use of appropriate strategies to deal with stressful events. The general objective of the present study was to determine the levels of perceived stress and coping strategies of persons deprived of liberty at the Social Rehabilitation Center of Loja city. The research had a descriptive quantitative approach, with a non-experimental design, cross-sectional, with a sample of 60 people, aged 18 to 65 years, the type of sampling applied was non-probabilistic by convenience, with the application of inclusion and exclusion criteria. The Perceived Stress Scale PSS-14 and the Coping Strategies Inventory COPE-28 were used for data collection. The results obtained indicated that there are levels of perceived stress with a greater predominance in occasionally stressed and with respect to coping strategies, the most used by this population were those strategies focused on the problem: active coping, planning and social support, which are oriented towards changing or modifying the problem. Finally, a psychotherapeutic prevention plan was elaborated with the aim of providing strategies for coping with stressful situations in daily life in order to increase the capacity of attention in the present moment and improve the life quality
