| Samenvatting: | Public spending at the world level is increasing sharply. According to World Bank data (2017) the state expenditure as a percentage of world production went from 19.40% in 1973 to 29.15 in the year 2014 with an increase of approximately 10 percentage points over these years. However, at the global level, economies have experienced growth rates ranging from 2% to 4% from the year 2000. Despite the increase in the size of the state within the different economies (measured by public expenditure). The growth of world production presents a decrease that goes from 4.3% in the year 2010 to 2.6% in 2015. In this scenario arose the present topic of investigation, whose general objective is, to examine the incidence of public expenditure at the world level and by levels of income, period 1990-2016, through a descriptive-econometric study, using techniques of Cointegration and error correction, with data on panel, with the purpose of establishing its impact on economic growth. The research was conducted using historical data from the World Bank (2017). The results suggest that public spending positively affects economic growth, but this depends on the level of income of countries. In addition, the findings show that there is a short-and long-term equilibrium between the variables. Key words: |
