| Περίληψη: | This research arose in response to the problem of access and quality of drinking water in specific rural communities, focusing on the localities of Pachkius, Wankius, Los Diamantes, Los Hachos, San Manuel, San Andrés and Naichap. To address this issue, public intervention strategies in the provision of drinking water services in the communities of the rural parish of Nankias, canton Nangaritza, province of Zamora Chinchipe were analyzed. Data were collected through structured interviews and focus groups. It was found that only 13% of the respondents have direct access to a public drinking water distribution network, while 75% of the population receives untreated raw water. In addition, only 25% have a 24- hour water supply. The results established that there is widespread dissatisfaction with the quality of the water provided. In the current context, the construction of a drinking water treatment facility is a fundamental and relevant strategy to address the problems in these communities. Sustainable management and the active inclusion of the community in decision-making processes are essential for the successful implementation of such infrastructures. Tailoring solutions to local needs and establishing policies for efficient management are essential to ensure a continuous and safe supply of drinking water. |
