This work aimed to identify the influence of food on psychomotor development, identify the type of diet and determine the psychomotor development of preschool children in Cariamanga, Loja province. For this, a descriptive, cross-sectional study was carried out, within which the NutriSTEP survey was conducted, validated; in order to know the characteristics of the child's diet, as well as the DENVER II test modified as an instrument for evaluating his/her psychomotor development. The universe consisted of 300 children, the sample of 168 children, 16.7 % (n= 28), presented nutritional irrigation; while in 3% (n= 5) of them, failures were evident in the development of fine and gross motor areas, 1.2% (n= 2), language 1.2%. (n= 2), and social staff 0.6 % (n=1). The statistical program SPSS version 24, allowed obtaining a 3% relationship between nutritional risk and psychomotor development, which concludes that increased nutritional risk, the probability of development abnormality will be greater.
