| description | This research work was realized in Loja city to determine the relationship between myopia and pachymetry of Pio Jaramillo Alvarado high school`s students taking into account the values to the corneal thickness refers to the contrast information and relate it to the age groups for which it was carried out, possess local information of the average value of central corneal thickness to identify suitability for the respective treatment of refractory defect‘s correction, this is a prospective, descriptive and cross-sectional study where the myopic pachymetric results are going to be determine in the educational institution`s students. In recent years, one of the most interesting developments in the field of pachymetry has been the study of the cornea´s biomechanics and the influences of the age, gender and ethnicity on its values considering it as biomechanics and dynamic identity like an important indicator of cornea’s health state. Therefore, the importance of obtaining this information and after being thoroughly studied brings the next results: in this population was identified almost in its entirety a mild myopia grade, being more frequent between 14 and 17 years and the corneal thickness in the studied population is 555.6 microns that´s greater than the average established as reference values. Therefore, this find expands the treatment`s possibility to correct the refractory defect that includes refractive surgery. Keywords: myopia, corneal thickness, refraction, autorefractometer. |

Keywords: myopia, corneal thickness, refraction, autorefractometer.El presente trabajo de investigación, realizado en la ciudad de Loja con el fin de determinar la relación existente entre miopía y paquimetría de estudiantes del colegio Pío Jaramillo Alvarado, tomando en cuenta los valores en cuanto al grosor corneal se refiere, para contrastar dicha información y relacionarla con los grupos de edad en los que se llevó a cabo, poseer información local del valor medio de espesor corneal central que permita identificar la idoneidad para el tratamiento respectivo de corrección de defecto refractario, constituye un estudio prospectivo, descriptivo y de corte transversal donde se determinan los datos paquimétricos de los y las estudiantes miopes de la Institución educativa en mención. Uno de los desarrollos más interesantes en el ámbito de la paquimetría en estos años ha sido el estudio de la biomecánica de la córnea y las influencias de edad, género y etnia sobre la medida de su espesor central como una identidad biomecánica dinámica y como un indicador importante del estado de salud corneal. De ahí, la importancia de la obtención de esta información, la misma que luego de ser minuciosamente estudiada aporta con el hecho de que en la población en estudio se identificó casi en su totalidad un grado paquimétrico de miopía leve, siendo más frecuente en las mujeres y en la edad comprendida entre los 14 y 17 años y que el espesor corneal en la población estudiada es de 555.6 micras, mayor a la media referencial, por tanto amplía la gama de posibilidad de tratamiento para corregir el defecto refractario, la misma que incluye el uso de cirugía refractiva empleando láser.
