| Sumario: | People’s type of family has undeniable repercussion on their behaviors, as well as on the healthy or risky decisions they make. This effect is even greater during adolescence because it is a stage of development, but also of vulnerability and exploration of the newfound sexuality. Therefore, the conflicts of sexual values and their expressions are very common. The objective of this research was to determine the relationship between family functionality and the early onset of sexual activity in adolescents. The research was descriptive, cross-sectional and it used a quantitative-qualitative approach, which entailed using a semi-structured survey and the FF-SIL Family Functioning questionnaire and statistical program Statistical Product and Service Solutions volume 25. After the application of the research materials, psychoeducation was provided to the study participants regarding sexuality, sexual relations and family functionality in students. The study population was established at the "Zapotillo Bachillerato" High school of the Zapotillo District and the study sample comprised 100 students between the age of 13 and 15 years old the same one that was chosen at random according to the required number. The results showed that the adolescents largely belonged to a moderately functional family. Regarding the initiation of sexual activity, 27% of the adolescents had begun their sexual activity, the age of onset was between 13 and 14 years old. Also, most of the population who had become sexually active belonged to a moderately functional family.
