Summary:This descriptive study investigated the use of songs to improve the English listening skill with Sixth Year of Basic Education at “Andrés Machado Montero” School. An intervention with eight sessions was carried out to improve the skill. A researcher-made was designed and used to measure the students’ progress and perception of songs. Additional instruments like; observation sheets were used regularly to see the students’ progress. The results indicated that after using songs, the improvement of listening skill was remarkable which was reflected quantitatively in their Post-test scores. The information from the field diary confirmed the enthusiasm and the positive attitude toward working with listening. To sum up this study helped the students to improve their listening skill; the researcher to sharpen his teaching skills, and the community to have well prepared future teachers.
