| Yhteenveto: | Breast cancer is the leading cause of death in women aged 35 to 55 years and constitutes a public health problem worldwide. The present research work is a descriptive, quantitative and cross-sectional study carried out on women of childbearing age (15-49 years) attending the José Miguel Rosillo Hospital. In order to determine the knowledge about breast cancer and practice of self-examination. The universe is made up of 601 women, with a sample of 235 users who came during the study, which were evaluated with the help of a survey divided into 3 parts, the first one helped us obtain sociodemographic data, the Second part consists of 23 questions which allowed to determine the level of knowledge about breast cancer and the third part consists of 7 questions helping us to establish the practice of self-examination. The results obtained reveal that 68.1% of the respondents have a level of regular knowledge about general aspects of cancer, risk factors and prevention; Regarding the practice of self-examination, 63.4% do not perform breast self-examination because they believe that they do not have the symptoms and therefore they do not need it, instead the 36.6% that perform the breast self-examination they do it by decision personal, 20.4% is done when it occurs. Despite having good knowledge, the practice of self-examination is inadequate for the users. Key words: self-examination, breast cancer, knowledge, women of childbearing age, practice. |
